Stress Management – Humor
Maintaining your sense of humor can greatly aid in times of stress, such as being held captive or hostage. If you need something to help you here, perhaps thinking of being in a job you may not like and working with someone you would rather not work with. In these times, humor can sometimes be the best way to get through it. Perhaps giving nicknames to your captors or making jokes. One good way to think of it is this, you are still alive and the “bad guys” want you alive, or you would not be held captive or hostage. So, make the best of the situation and keep your sense of humor. Remember Tom Hanks in the movie Cast Away, I believe it was. He actually developed a relationship with a soccer ball. It helped him keep his sanity and sense of humor. So, yes, humor can do a lot to help.
